It's now been a little over two weeks since Lindsay was born, and so far things have gone very well for the rookie Dad. I've gotten the hang of diaper changes, I can usually tell the difference between a "hungry cry" and a "dirty/wet cry", and I am pretty darn good at the whole "getting Lindsay dressed" scene, though she really tried to challenge me on that with an endless flury of kicks and flailing arms. However, it is becoming apparent to me that the more I learn about being a Dad, the more uncharted waters I begin to uncover. Although I enjoy the on-the-job training, I figured that it may be very helpful and fun to recruit the advice of some experienced professionals. If anyone would like to share any snip-its of wisdom for the new guy, or if anyone wants to recommend any cool, must-have products such as the "Diaper Champ" (Thanks, Miller), I would love to read your comments.

1) Try the E.A.S.Y. method. It takes time but it works:
E-at
A-ctivity
S-leep
Y-ou-time
2) Give Lindsay a toy when you change her. It will take her mind off the task at hand.
When did this blog get here? lol
Diaper Champ, eh? When Jade was born there was a thing called the Diaper Genie, something similar. The most serious design flaw was that it was way too small. My kid crapped way too much for a diaper disposal that size. It was also disturbing when unloading it. Our model made a little twist in a very long skinny plastic bag after each diaper disposal, so you ended up with a long bumpy caterpillar looking thing. Too weird.
My advice is to relax and trust yourself. Parenting is an instinct. Now you're asking for advice, but it won't be long before you realize it comes from all sorts all the time, bidden or not. Just remember this story when it comes to that.
I need to get back on my feet! If Autumn waits on me another minute #5 is landing on my lap. She went to the doc yesterday and he said they wouldn't stop her, so now she's threatening.
Thanks for the feedback.
